Safe & Effective Identification for Your Dog or Cat

Each year, countless cats and dogs go missing and are brought to animal shelters by good samaritans. Sadly, without proper identification, many of these pets are never reunited with their families.

Microchipping offers a reliable, permanent way to identify your four-legged family member. Unlike ID tags that go on your pet's collar, microchips can’t be lost, removed, or damaged.

At Omemee Veterinary Hospital, we offer the EIDAP microchip, a widely used product designed to increase your chances of safely recovering your lost pet.

Don't let your furry friend be left without identification. Ask your veterinarian about microchipping for your cat or dog.

How Does Microchipping Work?

A microchip is a safe, simple form of identification that can significantly increase the chance of a reunion between you and your lost pet.

About the size and shape of a grain of rice, the microchip is injected beneath the surface of your furry companion's skin, usually between the shoulder blades, in a process similar to a vaccination.

Once inserted, the chip's unique ID is registered on the national pet recovery database, and updated with your family's information (be sure to keep this information up to date!.

Should your pet ever go missing, a veterinary hospital or a shelter will be able to scan the microchip, see the code, and contact you using the information from the database.

The procedure causes minimal discomfort, takes only a few minutes and can be completed during any visit to Omemee Veterinary Hospital.

EIDAP Microchip

The EIDAP microchip is a trusted solution that enhances the likelihood of safely recovering your lost companion.

If your cat or dog goes missing and is found, they can be brought to a shelter or veterinary clinic, where staff can use a scanner to read the microchip’s unique ID number. This allows staff to access your contact information and helps ensure your pet is safely returned to you.

Microchipping is recommended for both indoor and outdoor pets.

At EIDAP, we are dedicated to happy endings for lost pets, so we encourage you to consider microchipping your pet.
